Damn !
Junta,
I am back. With as much mirth and enthusiasm i could muster.
It is below 0 degree Celcius for almost two weeks now, lowest being -20! And there is snow everywhere. Tons and tons of them. Everywhere. I joined my colleagues and played hitting-each-other-with-snowballs. Later I had to the restroom and go into unspeakable places to get the snow out. Damn! Snow is everywhere alright.
We got just one day off for Christmas. But the best part is all of my leads are on vacation till next year! Even my onsite co-ordinator is going back to India. Wait a second.. now I would have to do some co-ordination work then. Damn! I didn't think that before.
I finally ordered a laptop. HP Pavilion dv1000 series. Customized to Centrino 1.6 GHz, 512 RAM, 60 GB, CD-RW DVD Combo. Should be on my hand by Jan 10th. And then K tells me, that the DVD reader could be Region-specific. Damn! Why didn't i think of that before? The damage was already done. A full $1100 of it.
And i was going to give it to my sweet lil sister as her b'day present. I never gave anything for her b'days, not even a card..not once. So i called my Mom and told her the news. She tells me that my sister's college doesn't allow student to have computer at their hostel. Damn! She would have to sneek it in somehow, wouldn't she?
After all the shopping i have done there is zilch in my account now. Which reminds me of my college days. Which reminds me of Home. Which reminds me of Pune. God, how i miss all those. Can't wait to come back. And then my PM drops the bomb and tells me, my stay here could be extended. Damn! I told him, "I'm *not* going to be here after February. Period."
After all that LateNight TV shows -my social life now involves only a bed, tv & the remote- i go to sleep very late. But that doesn't stop the Pune developers from waking me up at odd hours. That day at 1AM in the morning i got a call. I woke up knowing that some crazy developer who have run into some stupid problem is calling me. Sure enough, it was a colleague but that fellow started talking without saying who he was. So i yelled, "WHO IS THIS?". He said, "Its Srini". My Manager. Damn! Now whenever the phone rings i give it some respect.
My current room-mate & good friend, Murali is getting married this Feb. I'm just cursing myself that i won't be back to make the wedding. I'm more cross by the fact that im unable to warn the bride of the psycho she is going to marry...just kidding! Congratulations Murali on the engagement!
Joke Time:
Once upon a time, in a nice little forest, there lived an orphaned bunny and an orphaned snake. By a surprising coincidence, both were blind from birth. One day, the bunny was hopping through the forest, and the snake was slithering through the forest, when the bunny tripped over the snake and fell down. This, of course, knocked the snake about quite a bit.
"Oh, my," said the bunny, "I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I've been blind since birth, so, I can't see where I'm going. In fact, since I'm also an orphan, I don't even know what I am."
"It's quite ok," replied the snake. "Actually, my story is as yours. I too have been blind since birth, and also never knew my mother. Tell you what, maybe I could slither all over you, and work out what you are so at least you'll have that going for you."
"Oh, that would be wonderful" replied the bunny. So the snake slithered all over the bunny, and said, "Well, you're covered with soft fur, you have really long ears, your nose twitches, and you have a soft cottony tail. I'd say that you must be a bunny rabbit."
Oh, thank you, thank you," cried the bunny, in obvious excitement. The bunny suggested to the snake, "Maybe I could feel you all over with my paw, and help you the same way that you've helped me."
So the bunny felt the snake all over, and remarked, "Well, you're smooth and slippery, and you have a forked tongue, no backbone and no balls. I'd say you must be a leader, a supervisor or possibly someone in senior management.
